‘One Dan Hughes’ – Our local CRY Charity
Written by Jane Lythgoe on 9 September 2020
It was great to welcome DAVE HUGHES from the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) to the studio today – a local charity in remembrance of Dave’s son, DAN HUGHES, who sadly passed away due to a heart defect. As with most organisations and charities the coronavirus pandemic has meant a reduction in funds due to events and fundraisers being cancelled but Dave, his wife Sue and Daughter Kim and a big team of helpers are still driving forward with the charity to help other families not to have to go through the devastating loss that they have had to face. SOME IMPORTANT EYE-OPENING STATISTICS …. In the past 5 years or so the team have raised £254,500 ………. the number of young hearts tested is 2,308 ………. out of the 2,308 tested, 61 young people had a defective heart ………. in the UK alone an average of 12 young people die EVERY WEEK with heart related issues! CRY provides screening for young people between the ages of 14 and 35. If you want to arrange to get your precious young person tested, or if you would like to donate to this amazing charity go to the website onedanhughes.com Alternatively get in touch with the Hitmix and we will put you in touch.
