Covid Impact on Rough Sleepers and Fitness fanatics

Written by on 2 December 2020

The leader of Newcastle borough council says work is continuing to get rough sleepers and those at risk of becoming homeless into temporary accommodation.

It comes as new measures came into force today following the ending of the national lockdown. The borough has been placed into Tier 3, with the rest of Stoke and Staffordshire.

Newcastle currently has an infection rate of 297 per 100 thousand people.

Meanwhile Jubilee 2 will be open for gym users and swimming, but there’ll be no classes in the centre. The Brampton Museum will remain closed.

Elsewhere there’s good news for fitness fanatics in Stoke-on-Trent with two city council run gyms reopening.

It’s part of a phased reopening of leisure centre facilities.
