A 78-year-old man from Staffordshire has been jailed for 11 and a half years for historical sex offences involving a child.
Stafford Crown Court was told Joseph Hopkins, who was a social worker in the 1990s took a child to a secluded location in his car before raping and sexually assaulting him.
He was charged with a number of offences after the now adult victim came forward to report him and an investigation was launched in 2015.
Hopkins, formerly of Lichfield, has also been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
Detectives say it was a long and complex investigation and are hoping the victim can now try and re-build his life following years of suffering.”
Anyone whose been a victim of sexual abuse is being urged to contact Staffordshire Police.
