Harry Potter star’s newborn baby leaves hospital after COVID treatment

Written by on 8 January 2021

Harry Potter star Jessie Cave says her newborn baby has been discharged from hospital, where he was admitted after testing positive for coronavirus.

The actress, who played Lavender Brown in the film adaptations of JK Rowling’s books, gave birth to Tenn in October following what she described as a “traumatic birth”.

In a post on Instagram, she said: “Baby is home now. Thank you for all the well wishes and messages of support.”

Earlier this week, Cave revealed that her “poor baby” had contracted COVID-19 and was being treated at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Posting a photograph of Boris Johnson delivering his address to the nation on Monday evening, she wrote: “I watched the news about lockdown from an isolated room in hospital.

“Poor baby is COVID positive. He’s okay and doing well but they are being vigilant and cautious, thankfully.”

More from Covid

The star, 33, added: “Really didn’t want this to be the start of my family’s new year. Really didn’t want to be back in a hospital so soon after his traumatic birth. Once again I’m in awe of nurses and doctors.”

She said the new strain of coronavirus was “super powerful and contagious” and warned people to “take extra care”.

Singer Paloma Faith was among those who responded to the post, writing: “Sending so much love to you all… having one soon and the anxiety is real! God bless the NHS!”

Model Erin O’Connor sent a series of heart emojis, while podcaster Pandora Sykes said: “Oh Jessie you poor thing – sending love and strength x.”

Cave and her partner, comedian Alfie Brown, have two other children – Donnie, five, and Margot, three.

They initially named their new baby boy Abraham “Bam” Benjamin, but said in December that they had changed his name to Tenn.

Cave said he was delivered 40 minutes after her waters broke.

“This has been a very different experience to my first two births… much more humbling, terrifying and out of my control,” she said.
