Help for the homeless

659 households have been prevented from being made homeless in Stoke-on-Trent since April last year.
Figures show the city council is one of the best performing in preventing and relieving homelessness in the country. In November last year, they also prevented 84 percent of households avoid homelessness.
Bosses at the local authority say there’s still more work to do to support homeless people and rough sleepers and continue to work with a range of partners.
Eighteen rough sleepers found on the streets of North Staffordshire on Christmas Day have now been found homes.
A team from Brighter Futures has found suitable accommodation for those bedding down in doorways and parks across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle borough.
Now anyone who spots a homeless person is being urged to get in touch with the Rough Sleepers Team so they too can be helped.
