It was assumed that Port Vale were set to announce a new manager yesterday after
the club called a press conference for 11am where a successor to John Askey was thought likely to be announced. The Vale have been without a manager since Askey departed on January 4th.
Since then, Interim boss Danny Pugh has overseen two wins, three defeats and a draw in the six league games.
Instead, Port Vale announced a new Director of Football – David Flitcroft.
The new Director of Football says they’re leaving no stone unturned as they search for a new manager.
David Flitcroft says they have reduced the list down to those who applied.
The 47-year-old former Barnsley and Mansfield boss was yesterday appointed in his new role.
He says it’s a hugely exciting project to be part of at the club.
David Flitcroft says he admires the ambition, vision and investment of the owners and will be working to give them a football operation to be proud of.
He says he’ll be demanding excellence as standard and 100 per cent graft and commitment.
