New place to register births, marriages and deaths

There’s a new place to register births, marriages and deaths in Stoke-on-Trent.
The service, which has been based at Hanley Town Hall since 1994, is moving to the Civic Centre in Stoke. It’s estimated 170,000 births have been registered there in that time, with around 6,300 birth registrations, 4,300 death registrations and 2,000 notice of marriage appointments carried out each year.
But due to the current Coronavirus restrictions, the registration of deaths continues to be by telephone only. Marriage and civil partnerships aren’t permitted currently under the government’s lockdown restrictions.
