The Environment Agency has announced that its to undertake a new three-month air quality monitoring exercise around Walley’s Quarry landfill site in Silverdale.
It follows a rising number of complaints with hundreds of residents reporting foul odours that they say impacts negatively on their families and their quality of life.
Borough Council leader Simon Tagg, says he’ll be meeting the Environment Agency and local MP Aaron Bell today to press for a more effective programme of monitoring than anything they have done so far – including appropriately sited monitoring equipment and transparency on the data that is collected.
