The second phase of HS2 between Birmingham and Crewe has been granted Royal Assent. The approval means building work can start on the 36 mile route in 2024. The scheme is expected to support around 5,000 jobs during construction of the high speed rail line, with many more in the supply chain. Bosses at Cheshire East Council say the project will drive increased business confidence to invest in Crewe.
