138 fines have been handed out to people who’ve broken lockdown rules in the first week of February in Staffordshire.
Police say they were for a range of breaches – the most common were house parties and people taking unnecessary car journeys.
Families are now being urged to stick to the current lockdown guidelines during the half-term break as police and council leaders continue their efforts to tackle the spread of Covid-19.
The force says it’ll monitor hot-spot areas while Covid stewards will be patrolling parks to provide advice and check on compliance.
Meanwhile people who live in Hanley, Etruria, Tunstall and the Moorcroft areas are being urged to get tested for Covid-19 following a spike in positive cases.
Trends show the Coronavirus case rate for those over 60’s is starting to increase.
14,000 community testing appointments will be available this week across 15 venues.
The covid rate across Stoke-on-Trent has dipped below 200. It now stands at 193.1 per 100 thousand population.
