Air Quality Monitoring at Walley’s Quarry
Written by Hitmix Local News on 25 February 2021
An Air Quality Monitoring unit has been installed by the Environment Agency near to Walley’s Quarry landfill site in Silverdale.
It’s in response to hundreds of complaints from residents about a bad smell in the area that they say impacts negatively on their families and their quality of life.
The unit, which will be in place for three months, is based in the grounds of the Severn Trent pumping station off Galingale View. It will collect data continuously which will also be sent to Public Health England for them to provide expert opinion on any human health impacts.
The findings will then be shared with local residents, including an assessment of any environmental impacts.
