Aaron Bell MP takes fight to the PM

The MP for Newcastle has taken his fight over the odour problems at Walley’s Quarry in Silverdale to the Prime Minister.
Aaron Bell arranged a meeting with Boris Johnson, and his officials, to fill him in on the backstory behind the landfill site and to explain the present crisis.
He says the PM has agreed that action is clearly needed, and directed his officials to work further with Defra.
Meanwhile the leader of Staffordshire County Council says he’s considering enforcement action against the operator of Walleys Quarry.
Alan White has written to them saying he’s dismayed about the terrible state of Cemetery Road outside the site, in what appear to be clear breaches of the planning conditions.
He says he’s received numerous complaints and has a team in site to set out the changes that need to be made to prevent mud and waste being deposited onto nearby roads.
