A major milestone has been reached in the fight against Covid-19 in Staffordshire after the infection rate fell below 100 for the first time since October.
In the last seven days, the figure in the county has dropped to 71.6 in every 100,000 people. That’s slightly below the West Midlands figure of 72 but higher than the average in England of 59.1.
Stoke-on-Trent’s infection rate has dropped to 98.3.
Elsewhere a number of areas in Stoke on Trent have been identified as Covid-19 hotspots even though cases across the city continue to fall.
Now people in Hanley, Normacot, Boothen and OakHill and Lightwood are being urged to get tested at one of 17 venues across the city.
