Odour Problems continue at Walleys Quarry

The County Council says it’s aware of ongoing odour problems at Walley’s Quarry in Silverdale.
In a statement, the Director of Health Richard Harling said; “We know that this is distressing for residents and understand their concerns about possible health implications.
“He says they’re working with a range of National and local agencies to monitor and try to remedy the situation.
The Environment Agency has issued an enforcement notice requiring the operator Red Industries, to carry out work to reduce emissions and they’ve suspended landfill activities so they can be completed.
It’s hoped the actions improve air quality over the next six to eight weeks.
