A Stoke-on-Trent man has been jailed for 38 months for manslaughter following an incident where a man died in a Longton street.
A court heard, Ben Hunt was working at a garage when he saw a man with a sledgehammer causing damage to an Audi. 32-year-old Hunt and another man gave chase and restrained Christopher Walters.
Police attended and Mr Walters was still held in the neck restraint. He was taken to hospital but died soon after.
A post mortem found the cause of death was due to ‘compression of the neck.’
Detectives described the incident as a sad and tragic case.
