Extra testing has been put on in Leek after 31 positive Coronavirus tests were confirmed in the town, 19 of which are the Indian variant which was found at a number of schools.
Nearly a thousand pupils and staff are self-isolating. 300 appointments are now available at Leek high school and St Edward’s Academy while a national testing centre has been set up at Britannia’s headquarters.
Staff and customers who visited two pubs, the Three Horseshoes Country Inn and the Black Lion on certain dates last month are also being urged to get tested.
Health bosses say it’s crucial everyone gets tested if they’re to contain the outbreak.
