Detectives are reassuring the community they are actively tackling arson offences after a Stoke-on-Trent man was jailed for four years.
44-year-old Richard Carr from Cobridge, pleaded guilty to arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered.
Police and the fire service were called to a blaze in December last year where people were trapped but when they got to the property they found Carr sat outside refusing to allow firefighters in. The blaze had been started in his room and occupants were evacuated.
Officers say thankfully no-one was injured as a consequence of Carr’s actions.
