Morgan Freeman interviews police recruits in Alabama town

A job interview can be a daunting prospect at the best of times.
But in a small town in Alabama, those applying to become a police officer had an especially intimidating experience.
Why? Because Morgan Freeman was one of the people on the board of interviewers.
The 84-year-old actor helped to question nine potential recruits for the Gulf Shore Police Department.
Those who turned up for their interview were shocked to find that Morgan Freeman was involved.
The department often includes law enforcement experts and civilians in its screening committee – and Freeman, who is originally from Mississippi and owns property in the Gulf Shores, knows people who have worked with the police force.
Deputy Chief Dan Netemeyer said that “it was kind of a last-minute thing, but he was an active participant”.
“He had a hat on, and he was kind of sitting back. When he introduced himself it was almost like an old ‘Candid Camera’ scene,” Mr Netemeyer added.
While some of the recruits may not have recognised Freeman, they would have realised who he was when he spoke.
The hiring process is not complete, but some of the recruits interviewed by Freeman will be offered jobs.
