Stafford Rangers 1 v 1 Ashton United
Rangers were forced to settle for a point in their match billed as a ‘six-pointer’ against fellow strugglers Ashton United at Marston Road.
Needing a victory to take them above their opponents in the table and alleviate the pressure heaped in them following a poor run of form in recent weeks, a point was, it could be argued, better than nothing.
Rangers were given the perfect opportunity to go in front when Joe Willis was brought down inside the box in the 31st minute and Tom Tonks tucked away the resulting spot kick.
Midway through the second half the visitors were back on level terms when Nathan Lowe finished off a weaving run with an emphatic left footed strike to earn Ashton a shar e of the points.
Congleton 1 v 1 Bury AFC
Following their history-making heroics in the FA Vase at the weekend Congleton were given a quick opportunity to assess their opponents for the next round after the draw for the quarter-finals yesterday.
Drawn at home to Bury AFC, they were in action against the very same opponents at the Cleric Stadium on Tuesday evening, and the game finished all-square
The visitors went in front with just 36 seconds on the clock when Connor Comber raced on to a through ball before burying his shot from just inside the box.
Just as it looked like they were about to suffer a rare home defeat, the Bears struck back in the dying embers of the game when Jonathan Beamount found the net to secure a point.
