It’s here, this is the big one – the biggest game in the history of Congleton Town FC as they take on holders Newport Pagnell Town in the semi final of the FA Vase.
Despite the Bears’ home record this season, Saturday’s opponents probably start the favourites, having done it all before in this competition.
The Swans romped home to a 3-0 win at Wembley Stadium against Littlehampton Town in last season’s final thanks to goals from Kieran Barnes and a brace from Ben Shepherd.
They currently sit in fourth place in the United Counties League Premier Division South with 58 points from 26 games and are unbeaten in their last eight.
The Swans beat Atherstone town on penalties in their quarter-final to set up a semi-final date with Congleton after the game had finished at 2-2 at their Willen Road ground.
After The Bear’s nail-biting defeat of AFC Bury in their quarter-final three weeks ago, they know that they will need to be at their very best to get to Wembley – but what better motivation can you ask for?
