23.03.24 – Ceramics Makers’ Market to return at Gladstone Pottery Museum

Written by on 19 March 2024

Ceramics enthusiasts are being invited to attend a popular Makers’ Market at Gladstone Pottery Museum.

After the runaway success of the last two Makers’ Market at Gladstone in 2023 the ceramic event is making a much-welcomed return for 2024.

Over 50 local and national ceramic makers are confirmed to attend with past contestants from the hit television series The Great Pottery Throw Down, including Henry Moore, Cadi Froehlich and Shani Yeomans and this year’s winner Donna Bloye.

The market will take place on Saturday 23 March between 11am and 4pm, with a pop-up café selling refreshments.

Donna Bloye, who was announced as the winner of The Great Pottery Throw Down 2024 just last week said: “I’m so excited to be returning to Gladstone. It has a very special place in my heart, and so many happy memories. I can’t wait to see the beautiful sunsets and sunrises over the bottle kilns again.”

Esme, owner and designer at Scruffy Little Herbert said: “To be involved in the Gladstone Pottery Ceramic Makers’ Market either as a customer or a maker is an exciting experience steeped in history. As an artist I love to see the huge variety of art that all the makers create with the same lump of clay. The fact that there will be contestants and winners from the Great Pottery Throwdown selling their work too is the icing on the cake!”

Councillor Jane Ashworth, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “Our Makers’ Market is extremely popular for pottery and ceramics enthusiasts to come along and appreciate the clay art for sale and is a really good afternoon out.

“The array of local makers taking part highlights the incredible level of creativity still present across our city.
