Here’s a pre-match report from Mark Birtles …
Stoke City play their penultimate match of the season when they travel to St Mary’s to take on Southampton.
The Potters are all but safe after last week’s 3-0 win over Plymouth, but will come up against a Saints team firmly involved in the playoff race, and who are unbeaten in five home matches.
Port Vale play their final game of the season on Saturday, and their final game in League One when they take on Cambridge United at Vale Park.
The Valiant’s might still play a part in the relegation battle, as Cambridge themselves aren’t yet clear of the possibility of relegation, and need a point to be sure.
Vale haven’t won in six, meanwhile Cambridge haven’t kept a clean sheet in six. A reminder that the final game kicks off at 12:30pm.
Crewe Alexandra also play their final game of the season when they travel to Colchester United.
The Alex know that a point will guarantee them a place in this season’s playoffs, while Colchester need a point to confirm their football league status.
Defeats for either will mean both relying on results elsewhere. Crewe currently sit sixth and can be overtaken by Barrow and Crawley should they lose the game.
Newcastle Town play their final game of the season when they take on Chasetown at The Lyme Valley Stadium.
Kidsgrove Athletic complete their season away at Stalybridge Celtic and will be joined by the Kidsgrove Wellbeing Foundation who are walking the 33 miles to the game raising money to create more accessibility and affordable sports and activities for all people and to raise awareness for wellbeing through their events.
Northern Premier League West Division winners Leek Town finish their campaign with a home game against Clitheroe.
Hanley Town wrap their season up with a home game against Vauxhall Motors.
Nantwich Town travel to Widnes for their final game,
And Stafford Rangers complete their difficult season with a trip to Morpeth Town.
In Women’s football – Stoke City are at home to Fylde
Crewe Alexandra are at home to Blackpool,
Newcastle Town take on Walsall at home,
And Leek Town’s ladies are away at Peterborough United.
