Good Golly Miss Molly – The New Vic Theatre – until Saturday 2nd May   Â
Written by Bob Eaton back in 1989 and revived a few times over the years, this show with its local importance is the perfect revival choice to kick off the New Vics 40th Anniversary Celebrations .. 40 years of theatre in the round.
I had the privilege of speaking to Shirley Darroch (Molly) (the Scottish one, not the one from Stoke on Trent!!), Georgina Field (Lucille) and Jim Duah (Stan) who all obviously loved everything about the play and are having the best time! They were all fantastic, and having spoken to them a while earlier, I felt like a proud mum watching them!!

Do take time to listen to our chat …
Good Golly Miss Molly has everything … a remarkable story with deep local relevance, a fantastic multi-talented cast who were having the best time out there …. emotion, enthusiasm, excitement …. And then there is the music!

The music is something else … wonderful songs that we all know delivered live by Ronnie Angel and the Devils, and the rest of the cast, who aren’t just actors, they are also a group of accomplished musicians – incredible sweet singing in perfect harmony – drums, guitars, keyboard, trumpets, saxaphones, percussion – with a rich, powerful delivery comparable to a live gig at the O2! The musical element, although very much part of the play, seemed to break out and transcend the story which made the performance so absolutely joyous and exciting.

Every single member of the cast delivered an exemplary performance – with an abundance of onstage respect and love apparent.

A definite 5 STAR production – I could talk about it til the cows come home, but you really need to experience for yourself the joyful delight of this absolute treasure of a production!
