Dean Johnson – Adapting to Life in a Wheelchair

Written by on 12 September 2023

Life can be fantastic but it can also be very cruel – so I want to tell you about another fund raiser and it is for local lad Dean Johnson who has he has been in hospital since May and the family really want him home.  Dean had a serious motorcycle accident and was taken to the Royal Stoke by Air Ambulance. Dean required intensive care and was ventilated via life support for a short period of time, allowing his body time to recover from not only the trauma from the fractures to spine, multiple facial and rib fractures and a collapsed lung, but also a nasty chest infection he picked up which was impacting his ability to independently breathe for himself. It was touch and go for a while.  He has pulled through but basically is paralysed from the chest down.

There are many costs associated with an accident like this – suitable living space, a special wheel chair, physio.  His boss, Lee Sherwin, has set up a Gofund.me page.  The details of the just giving page are on the Hitmix website under local and live but if you go to gofundme.com and search Dean Johnson adapting to life in a wheelchair you will find all of the details.  I am sharing it because maybe other bikers can relate to this story and want to help Dean get back on his feet.

This is the link to the go fund me page – any amount will be gratefully received    https://gofund.me/440d2b48.
