A Roundup by Mark Birtles
Stoke City remain five points clear of The Championship relegation zone following their 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town.
Stoke fell behind right on half time, but levelled five minutes after the break and will now start preparations for the visit of playoff chasing West Brom this coming weekend.
Port Vale weren’t able to make it three wins on the bounce as they were beaten 2-0 at Northampton Town.
Wins over Burton Albion and Bristol Rovers had played The Vale right back into the fight for survival, but goals from Mitchell Pinnock and Shaun McWilliams mean The Valiants stay in 21st place just one point from safety with a trip to Wigan Athletic next up on Saturday.
Crewe Alexandra’s stuttering playoff challenge suffered another blow as they were beaten easily by the league’s bottom club Forest Green Rovers.
Two goals from Jordan Garrick and one from Jamie Robson saw the relegation threatened team three up in 28 minutes, and despite rallying after the break The Alex couldn’t find a response and now go to Accrington Stanley this coming weekend.
Goals from Tim Grice and Dan Trickett-Smith helped Leek Town to a 2-1 win against former manager Neil Baker, and the result means Leek are crowned the champions of the Northern Premier League west division.
Kidsgrove Athletic came from behind to beat Clitheroe 2-1 at Hollinwood Road.
Jack Bromfield and Lewis Holdham scored a goal each in nine second half minutes to secure the three points for the home team.
Hanley Town and Chasetown played out a goalless draw at The Scholars Ground.
Nantwich Town won a Bank Holiday seven goal thriller at The Weaver Stadium, against Hednesford Town.
Kai Evans and Troy Bourne put The Dabbers two up, before Hednesford hit back to level before the break.
Gio Loureiro scored the third for Nantwich on his debut before Hednesford levelled again, only for Troy Bourne to win it for The Dabbers at the death.
And finally rounding up the bank holiday Monday games,
A goal for Kaiman Anderson proved to be just a consolation for Stafford Rangers as they were beaten 2-1 at Gainsborough Trinity.
