Three arrested in Chesterton, Firefighters 50th Anniversary Event

Three people have been arrested following disorder in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
A report was received that a group had threatened a man at an address on Romney Avenue, Chesterton, shortly before 10 on Saturday morning.  The caller stated that a member of the group had a machete.
Firearms officers from Staffordshire Police attended the scene and recovered a large knife. A 43-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, both from the Stafford area, were arrested on suspicion of affray. A 19-year-old man, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon.   No-one was injured and enquiries are ongoing.   Officers would like to reassure members of the local community that there is no risk to their safety.

More than 100 members of the Retired Fire Fighters Network gathered at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service  headquarters to commemorate the 50th Anniversary.  The event held last Tuesday, was opened by Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Ian Dudson and Chief Fire Officer, Rob Barber.
Guests got the chance to quiz senior officers and then listen to talks from a local historian, a representative from The Fire Fighters Charity and a fire officer who talked about the latest developments in technology and equipment.
There was also an opportunity to see these latest advancements; from state-of-the-art cutting equipment to thermal imaging cameras, drones and the newest appliances and personal protection gear.
Memorabilia, equipment and photos from over the past 50 years were also on display for guests to view and reminisce over.
