We have celebrated 15 firefighters and support staff, with 200 years of service between them, for their dedication and commitment to communities in Staffordshire.
Fifteen attendees were recognised at a ceremony held at our headquarters in Stone on Monday (29 April).
They were given Good Conduct Medals and Long Service Certificates by Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Graham Morley, and Chief Fire Officer, Rob Barber, for their valuable contributions to the service.
Firefighter Peter Mace, based at Cheadle Community Fire Station since 2003, said it only feels like yesterday since he first joined the service.
“It was an incredibly proud moment to be recognised and I still get the same adrenaline now working for the service as I did when I first joined back in 2003.
“Working here has allowed me to meet and work with so many wonderful people who go above and beyond to make a difference to our communities and support those most vulnerable when they’re often in the most difficult moments of their lives.”
Firefighter Craig Elson was also rewarded for his long service of more than 20 years and acknowledged the support of his family.
“It was a great honour to receive recognition for my years of service and sharing the moment with my family and colleagues.
“While the journey hasn’t been without it’s challenges, my family have been incredibly supportive throughout. I’m truly grateful for the support from my family.”
Chief Fire Officer, Rob Barber, said: “The years of commitment shown by those receiving long service awards is really inspiring.
“It was wonderful to spend time with these dedicated members of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and their families, celebrating their commitment to protecting our communities.”
