Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Stoke-on-Trent last Sunday night.  Officers were called shortly after 7.30 to reports that a man had been assaulted by a group of six or seven young men near the basketball courts in Hanley Park.

The victim was knocked to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked. He was taken to hospital where he was treated for a broken jaw and facial injuries, which Fortunately, do not appear to be life threatening.

The young men are described as Asian, wearing dark clothes and aged between 16 and 18-years old. They were seen running away towards Stoke-on-Trent College.

An arrest has been made after a fire started inside a shop in Stoke-on-Trent yesterday afternoon. Officers were at the scene at Farmfoods on Moorland Road, Burslem, supporting crews from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service since getting the first call shortly before 1pm.A 53-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of arson and will be questioned in custody.  Fire investigators will work to establish the cause as soon as it’s safe to do so.  Anyone with any information is asked to get in touch by calling 101, quoting incident 331 of 23 May

Police are appealing for information following a break-in at the Co-op in Loggerheads earlier this week.  It happened at about 3.15 on Tuesday morning at the shop on Eccleshall Road.  Two masked offenders forced their way inside and took cash, alcohol and food.

Police have released CCTV images of three young men they’d like to speak to in connection with a knife point robbery in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

A call was received at around 8.50pm on the night of Thursday 2 May with reports that a teenage boy had been threatened at knife point near the Grosvenor roundabout, also known as the sunken roundabout, on Barracks Road.

The first suspect is described as white with short hair and was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a black hoodie. The second suspect is described as black with dreadlocks and was wearing all black. The third man is described as wearing dark-coloured clothing. Two of them had knives and all of them are believed to be between 16 and 18-years-old.

The victim had his trainers stolen. Fortunately, he was not injured.
