Deliberate Car Fire in Bradwell, Closure of George Hotel

Written by on 13 June 2024

Staffordshire Police are appealing for information following a deliberate car fire in Newcastle-under-Lyme at the weekend.

Officers went to an address on Cardway, Bradwell, just after 10o’clock on Sunday night after a black Kia Sportage was found well-alight.  The fire was extinguished by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and no one was injured. Following the fire, two men were seen leaving on a moped and the cause of the fire was later deemed to be deliberate.  If you were in the area at the time of the fire and have any information that could help Police with their enquiries, you can message them on LiveChat on the Staffordshire Police Website or call 101, quoting 294 of 9 May.

You can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Following the closure of The George Hotel in Burslem, A spokesperson for Stoke-on-Trent City Council confirmed that the small number of people placed in the hotel by the City Council have all been offered alternative accommodation and stated that they are aware that is also the case for those placed by other agencies.

The Rough Sleeper Outreach Team has visited Burslem and has found no evidence of anyone sleeping rough as a result of The George Hotel closing.  The team continue to liaise with partner agencies to ensure those who need assistance are receiving it.  If you are concerned about a person sleeping rough, or at risk of sleeping rough you can report it on the stoke.gov.uk website
