Local Non League Football – 4 matches postponed

Reports by Dave Johnson

Hyde United v Stafford Rangers

A disappointing Stafford fell to a fourth successive defeat and whilst they were hardly mauled by the Tigers, they may as well have been as the result would have been disappointing either way.

Hyde will celebrate the fact that the win takes them to the top of the table, but for Stafford it is time to reflect, as they suffered their fourth consecutive defeat.

All was looking well when the two sides went into the dressing rooms at half time with Stafford managing to keep the home side at bay, but things were to change in the 69th minute.

The home side made a substitution in the 66th minute when Edy Maieco came off the bench to replace Manasse Mampala, and the substitute took just three minutes to make his mark, beating Cameron Belford in the Stafford goal.

It was a cruel blow for the visitors, who had knocked the ball around well and felt they had deserved something from the game – sadly they were left empty-handed.

Nantwich Town v Stalybridge Celtic

Nantwich were well beaten at home by Staylbridge Celtic in a game billed before kick off as a six-pointer, with the Dabbers falling well short of what was required from them.

Former Crewe Alex strike Chris Dagnall fired a warning shooting over, before Jack Sherratt had the ball in the net midway through the first half only to see his effort ruled out

All was well for the home side up to the interval with neither side able to break the deadlock, but early in the second half things changed, with the advantage going to Stalybridge.

Just three minutes after the restart Djavan Pedro bundled the ball home for the opener, then in the 63rd minute Dagnall claimed Celtic’s second goal.

Any thoughts Nantwich had of pulling themselves back into the game were put firmly to bed with further goals from the visitors from Theo Bailey-Jones (75 mins) and Kyle Harrison (86 mins).
