SPACE 2023 – A Great Programme all summer long!!

Lets talk about the SPACE scheme.  It is a local scheme for young people all across Staffordshire which is organised by the Staffordshire Commissioners Office. It gives young people aged 8 to 17 fantastic things to do during the school holidays right through until 1^st September – and is proven to reduce anti-social behaviour by young people during the school holidays which is fantastic.

Here are some statistics … In 2022, almost 11,000 young people, aged between 8 and 17, enjoyed over 2,500 activities as part of the Space programme. There were over 21,000 attendances at events, equating to over 47,000 hours.  Space 2023 will begin after the three welcome launch days and will end on 1 September and will offer a variety of activities including swimming and gym passes, multi sports and park events, trips out and arts and crafts. And much more.
Space was relaunched in 2015 and its gone from strength to strength, and there has been a 75% reduction in youth ASB during the summer period since 2016. When the programme began, 1,395 reports of youth-related ASB were recorded compared to 354 in 2022.  Last year Jane went along to Longton Park to interview the Commissioner for Police, Fire and Rescue and Crime –  Ben Adams, and she thought, we can add some excitement to these events with the roadshow.  So this year we are very proud to be attending the three launch events with our roadshow at Hanley Park on 26^th, Tunstall Park on the 27^th and Queens Park Longton on the 28^th July.  Don’t miss attending one of those if you are aged between 8 and 17 ….
