Balls Field Petition

There is a lot of effort locally by different groups to try to keep as much green space as possible in our area.  Shaun McDonagh has been in touch about an area of green space that is well used by the community for walking and exercise and to just get a bit of fresh air.  The area is Balls field which is on Hoon Avenue, Milehouse – near to the Orme Academy and Merryfields schools.  The planning application is for up to 100 dwellings on the field.  The application was refused by Newcastle Borough Council but the decision has been overturned by Staffordshire County Council.  So a petition has been set up.  As well as the area being vital to the wellbeing of local families, there have been sightings of water voles in the brook, other wildlife including bats, hedgehogs, foxes and owls who all live here. There are also concerns around extra stress on the roads and more traffic with local schools on these roads.  Also The site has historical history with a Roman path under it.  So if you live in this area and will be affected there is a petition that you can sign and it is available up to 21^st March.
