Trading Standards Test Purchase, ASB Case Review

Last week, Stoke on Trent City Council Trading Standards teams conducted another under-age test purchasing operation, where a test purchase for alcohol and vapes was attempted with the assistance of two 15-year-old volunteers; one male and one female. 11 business premises were tested and whilst most of them asked for ID and refused the sale, two premises in the Shelton and Sneyd Green areas allowed the volunteers to purchase a bottle of lager. Another shop also in Shelton allowed the under-age volunteers to purchase a disposable vape.

A new campaign from the Staffordshire Commissioner’s Office is raising awareness of the Anti-Social Behaviour Case Review, a powerful tool allowing repeat victims to request action if they have reported incidents but are unhappy with the response they received.  The ASB Case Review gives victims and communities the right to request a review of their case where a specific threshold is met.  Once an ASB Case Review application is made, it is reviewed by an independently chaired panel who will make recommendations for problem-solving the issue.
