Written by Hitmix Local News on 22 July 2024
The 100-year anniversary of the Staffordshire Police Welfare Fund was recently celebrated at the force headquarters, hosted by our Chief Constable, Chris Noble
For a century the fund has provided critical financial support to officers and staff in times of need. It is open to all ranks and grades, both serving and retired.
Mark Judson, from the National Association of Retired Police officers, was there to mark the occasion. He said: “The fund was started by a £50 donation made by Bass following the Burton Maltsters Strike. Since then it was gone from strength-to-strength ensuring that those in need of urgent assistance always have somewhere to turn.
It currently has more than 600 serving officers and in excess of 1,500 retired members. Fund members subscribe on a monthly basis.

Staffordshire Police have provided a photograph of a man they would like to speak to following an incident in Trent Vale.
A report was received that a driver of a grey BMW drove his car at a pedestrian and shouted racial abuse at him.
It happened at around 11.15, on McDonald’s car park, on Springfields Retail Park, on the morning of Friday 5 July.
Officers have made CCTV enquiries with local businesses and are now keen to hear from anyone who has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time. Or anyone who may recognise the man in the image which can be seen on the Staffordshire Police website
You can contact them by calling 101, or via the Live Chat facility on their website, quoting incident number 320 of 5 July.
