31.03.25 – 13.04.25 – Join Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and Timmy Time on a big adventure for little legs!
Written by Hitmix Local News on 26 February 2025
Here is a lovely event to take part in for all the family. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust’s Hedgehog Walk will get families out walking for wildlife with “Timmy and Apricot” from the popular children’s TV programme “Timmy Time”. Families, schools and clubs across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent are encouraged to take on a 3km walking challenge to fundraise for wildlife. The challenge will see families walking, wheeling or rolling the same distance a hedgehog wanders in a single night. And you can sign up now for the challenge, which takes place from Monday 31 March to Sunday 13 April – the same time hedgehogs start to come out of hibernation. Once you have signed up on line, www.wildlifetrusts.org/hedgehog-walk you will receive lots of downloadable activities, including spotter sheets, a Hedgehog Walk poster and litter picking guides. Top fundraisers who raise over £30 for wildlife will also receive a special prize, such as an exclusive sew-on patch!
This is an important subject – very important – Hedgehogs are such special little things and with 1 in 6 species of wildlife including hedghogs threatened with extinction, it has never been more important to help wildlife – so why don’t you get out exploring with Apricot and Timmy and really make a difference. And we need to educate our youngster on the importance of wildlife – they will grow up to be the next generation of eco leaders, wildlife champions, and environmental changemakers – and this challenge could help them take those first steps.
